Microsoft Security Essentials receives an update
Microsoft Security Essentials receives an update today
Interesting enough when I installed it – the icon disappeared with no prompt for a restart – This is on a WIN7 64bit System.
Manually restarting the application seems to have fixed this issue.![]()
Always scares me a bit when an AV program does not seem to update properly.
Do you have XP Antispyware 2009?
Thanks to Gina Trapani at Smarterware here is how to get rid of it… PS: its not a good thing to have…

I have just made the transition to WIN7 from XP and I have to say its been a rocky road so far. So here is the story in case you want to use it for the show or possibly you can shed some light on the issues.
So early on I went from XP to WIN7 on my laptop with basically no issues using the RC.
MSE: Microsoft Security Essentials – 1 Week in…..
Issues with Microsoft Security Essentials:
Here are mine so far:
1) Upon Install on two of my XP machines – Both used to have MacAfee Security Suite (Fully Removed) and BLINK from Eeye (Fully Removed) Both Machines will display the XP Windows Firewall Warning Box on startup intermittently. This is the box saying you have no firewall operational. This is only on boot and only till the boot sequence catches up and then the dialog is gone and the Firewall shows good to go. I have submitted a support ticket. The Result of which is two suggestions: Add MSE to firewall exceptions (Which I had to do manually because it did not seem to add itself) and also run MS Install Cleanup Utility (which I did to look for previous security related installs and none were found) – Firewall Dialog still in intermittent.
Tweetdeck goes mobile and big changes for the desktop application
Repost from the Tweetdeck blog:
TweetDeck goes mobile and makes for the clouds
When I started developing TweetDeck, almost a year ago, I was trying to solve a very specific problem. Twitter provided an amazing new source of information but was already becoming unwieldy. When I missed a tweet from one of my real world friends I realised there was no way to weight the importance of people I followed or easily digest the avalanche of information. Thinking about this I realized that this was an increasing problem across the entire Web – not just with Twitter. More and more, sites are serving consumers streams of information rather than static web pages. And today’s browsers aren’t set up to help us filter and digest this new format.
