The Burzycki Name?

Well what is in a name is something I have been asked and to answer it for my name is something of a mystery.
I have searched for information related to the Burzycki surname for years with no real information ever to be found except for snippets here and there. This page will work toward consolidating some of the information for others with the Burzycki name.
For those that have seen the “The Burzycki Name in History: Ancestry.com” book advertised – My opinion is not to bother. The information inside is not worth the price.
Some of the information below will be duplicated – Sadly the only info that is really available is about those Burzycki’s that have died – not those that are actually living… Good in the respect for identity theft…not so good if you are trying to find how many are left in the world.

I see a lot on here that I am related to in the Michigan area.
I also believe and I will have to check into this more…but I think Burzycki was changed from another form.

I am not sure I am realted to any other Burzycki’s in the US that I know of… which is very interesting to me… but so were how names were changed at Ellis Island.

Ah safe to say were all distant relatives. Burzycki is a rare name our ancestors that came here were highly educated so America didn’t change a thing oi do know it’s spelled burzycka in polish but pronounced Burzycki. Our name means great destroyer! Feel familiar? That had to do with one of the wars over in that region. A Burzycki was a highly decorated army leader. We are royalty in Poland. Look at all the Burzycki’s here we carry it on bye lookin at the rest of us and thief great sucess. We have very smart college educated family that own successful businesses, professers , basically we have and always will make a mark ok society it’s in our blood. We are all creative weather it be how we think our what artisticness we are highly involved in. Look at yourself and think is he right? Yep. I learnedvalot of this from a polish professer I contacted years ago. He did slot of research for me. But the dead are easy to learn about but our name is ranked 126,000 out of billions on a rare list. So this leadscus to know over a hundred years we came from the same family. We justbspread out, Burzycki’s are very adventerous and not afraidvof failure orvtaking on risks, that’s why we all are where were at in this day in age.

I’m a real live Burzycki and there are some of us around. My family is central Massachusetts. The origin of my Burzycki family is from Northeast region of Poland in Wigry National Park area. It took me many years of searching to find the line in Poland, but one day a small miracle happened. I visited there in 2007 and have found some information about the family line. I know that we were between areas of CT and MA when they first came to settle at turn of the centry in USA.
Burzycka – the ‘a’ at the end is only for the females if your surname ends in ‘i’. Spanish does same thing with gender. I am Marianna Burzycka in Poland way, but my brother is David Burzycki – of course here in USA I am Maryann Burzycki….
Yes, Burzycki name means ‘tempest’ or ‘storm’ and really fits in my immediate family.

My father is Florian Burzycki, he lived in Wyandotte, Michigan. He died in De Funiak Springs, FL in 1979 as you have listed. My mother, Janet Louis (Howlett) Burzycki was born Dec 2, 1929 and died in Pittsburg, CA October 1985. She was killed by a drunk driver. My brother is Daniel Mason Burzycki. He died in October 1985, as you have listed, in Concord, CA of aplastic anemia.
My brother, Florian Allen Burzycki, born Nov. 9, 1953, lives in Crescent City, CA. He has two sons, Aaron Allen Burzycki, born Oct 21, 1983 (born Walnut Creek, CA)and Zachary Florian Burzycki born Oct 13, 1985 (In think born in WA). They both live in Tracy, CA

Hi, I live in Poland, exactly in Siemiatycze, the name Burzycki is build from 2 parts,Burza and -cki, second part ( cki/ski) is very popular in Poland like KowalSKI, SikorSKI, but Burza means – Storm , nice to know that is more people with the same name

At least here in the US there are just not very many Burzycki’s at all compared to all the other names..
I personally like being from a very small name – it makes the name that much more memorable…

I am Patricia Burzycki born in 1964 from my parents Alan Dexter Burzycki and Anne Adams. My Father was from Norwich Ct. Alot of our family lives in Norwich Ct. Felix Burzycki was my grandfather. Joseph, Donna, Carol Burzycki are all siblings of my father Alan. My siblings are Deborah, Marie, Anthony, and Phillip who is deceased as of 1979.
